As the Maldives works towards expanding the fishing industry, which has been the backbone of the nation for decades, the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), the biggest producer of fish products in the country launches a small 140-gram fish can.

Over the years, MIFCO has introduced a variety of fish-based products, including a variety of fish cans with different oil and water bases, later introducing flavoured editions such as dried chilli and pepper. In addition to the canned fish, which is one of the best quality and flavour of canned tuna a fish-lover can get their hands on, MIFCO sells packaged dry tuna, and frozen tuna, as well as condiments that go along with Maldivian meals such as sambol and rihaakuru among other mouth-watering local delicacies.

As their latest addition, the company has introduced the 140-gram tuna can, which is 40 grams less than the smallest tuna cans which was available in the market. The introduction of this new and smaller canned tuna is aimed at those who are seeking a small-sized tuna can that is perfect for a single usage. While the normal 180-gram tuna can has been the face of the fisheries industry for so long, oftentimes, half or even a quarter of the can is put in a container and left in the fridge for a second usage as a single meal or a smaller household may not use the entire can of tuna.

Although the tuna can remains just as delectable when used after storing in the fridge, the newly introduced 140-gram tuna cans are aimed at making mealtimes hassle-free without having to think of storing the remains of the canned tuna that was not used.
