Tourist arrivals reach 669,413

Total Arrivals have reached 669,413 as at 22 May 2022, recording a 52 percent growth over 2021, as the same period last year total arrivals was at 440,296. The daily average so far this year is at 4,714 tourists with an average stay of 8.3 days. The highest number of tourist arrivals recorded in May was on the 1st of May, with 7,445 tourists.

India has once again climbed to the top of source markets, with 13.5 percent market share, while UK remains at second place with 12.5 percent. Russia still continues to play a vital role with 9.5 percent market share, occupying the third place, while Germany is at fourth with 8.5 percent share.

Maldives has a total operational bed capacity of 54,852 distributed between 164 resorts, 648 guesthouses, and 150 safari vessels.

On the airlines and connectivity front, 24 airlines continue to operate to the Maldives. Aeroflot, has resumed operations after the brief disruption following the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
