On 15 July 2025, Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives launched the Girls to Code Malé Edition, a flagship initiative designed to equip young women with essential coding skills and support their entry into the tech industry.

Girls to Code was officially launched in 2019, expanding its reach across the Maldives over the years. Previous editions of the program have been held in Cities and major islands like Fuvahmulah, Kulhudhuffushi, Thinadhoo, Laamu Atoll, as well as Dhidhdhoo. Since its launch, the programme continues to grow in impact and scale, building a strong foundation for young women in technology.

According to Dhiraagu, this year's call for Applications received an enthusiastic response. The 2025 programme, which falls in line with the International Girls in ICT month, commenced with an opening ceremony and orientation on 15 July, bringing together motivated girls and young women aged 16 to 30 who are eager to explore the world of technology.

Over the next three months, participants will engage in a combination of virtual and in-person sessions, receiving hands-on training in programming, web development, and game creation using Python.

Girls to Code not only teaches participants how to code. This year’s edition features an expanded age range and a stronger focus on career development, with dedicated workshops to help build industry connections and bridge the gap between learning and employment.
