Lately, with the developments in technology all over the world, the need for more security has increased more than ever. This, however, implies more than just cybersecurity.

For a lot of people, the biggest security check that they ever go through are the ones that are done at airports. Border checks have become extremely important these days, as countries have started facing major threats from different organisations as well as from other countries. In order to assist with strengthening the border security in the Maldives, on April 18, 2023, the Government of Japan has provided aid to the Maldives Customs.

The grant that was provided by the Japanese Government includes vehicles, spare parts that are needed for the vehicles, a machine that can detect fake money notes as well as a spectrometer.

This grant aid was handed over to the Maldives by Japan under the agreement that was signed between both countries back in 2020 to strengthen relations in the social and economic spheres.

The assets that were handed over to the Maldivian Government by the Japanese Government amount to a total of MVR 72.6 million, which will prove to be helpful in the future to protect the Maldivian border against threats.
