The Maldives' Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that the Maldives will participate in the upcoming High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, scheduled to take place from 28 – 29 July 2025 in the United Nations Headquarters in New York..

According to the Ministry, the Maldives delegation will be led by Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations. The Maldives will deliver a statement at the Conference during the plenary session, reaffirming the principled and long-standing support for the rights of the Palestinian people.

The Maldives’ participation underscores steadfast support for multilateral efforts aimed at achieving peace, stability, and justice for the Palestinian people. The Government continues to advocate for the realisation of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Convened under the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 79/81 titled Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine, the Conference provides an important platform for reaffirming international consensus on the two-state solution.

The Conference is co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia. Prior to the plenary session, a Ministerial High-level Meeting will be held to present and discuss the outcomes of the Working Groups established for this conference.
