President’s Office Minister Mohamed Shifaz also dismissed

This dismissal comes just days after news broke out regarding the dismissal of the Managing Director of the State Trading Organisation.

On March 29, 2023, the President’s Office Minister Mohamed Shifaz was dismissed from his post.

This dismissal comes just days after news broke out regarding the dismissal of the Managing Director of the State Trading Organisation (STO), with many predicting that the dismissal was due to political reasons. And now, following this dismissal, it has been evident that Shifaz was dismissed from his role due to his unwavering support for  President Mohamed Nasheed.

While the rumours surrounding the dismissal of Amr were merely speculation at first, following this dismissal many are now more certain that these dismissals are coming from a political standpoint.

Mohamed Shifaz who joined the President’s Office in November 2018 has been very vocal about his support for former President Mohamed Nasheed. He has also voiced his concerns regarding the failure of the Government during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, stating that the Government has not upheld their promises, therefore failing the citizens.

Though dismissing people from office for having a different political standpoint, such as the dismissal of the Managing Director of STO is very surprising, many are left unphased following this dismissal of Shifaz as he is supportive of another candidate while working in the President’s Office.
