Housing Development Corporation (HDC) recently released the provisional list of beneficiaries for the Vinares flats that were developed by the previous government in Hulhumale' Phase II. During the administration of the previous President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, the contract was awarded to China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).
The 1,344 apartments of the Vinares Flats, which are valued between MVR 2.5 million and MVR 3 million, are spread across 10 towers. Compared to the Hiyaa flats, these apartments have more amenities such as access to gyms and convenience stores.
Managing Director Ahmed Athif stated that 1,413 applications were submitted for the Vinares flats, but only 723 made the list when it was announced. He also stated that while the screening process was underway, it was found that some applicants had not submitted all of the appropriate documentation.
A representative from the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, who was also present at the press briefing, expressed that they were working to ensure that the procedure of allocating the Vinares flats is conducted in the most transparent manner while ensuring that no applicant is disqualified without a genuine and legitimate reason.
Applicants not included in the provisional list were given the opportunity to file their complaints within a period of up to three days.
