Government announces additional easing of restrictive measures, effective 1 July 2021, with the surge in cases brought under acceptable levels.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, at a press conference on 29 June, announced additional stimulus packages to bring the economy to pre-COVID levels. Applications for COVID-relief loans will be open from 1 July 2021, through the Bank of Maldives and the SDFC.
Maldives to re-open borders for tourists from South Asian countries from 15 July. The Government has also announced that locals and work permit holders traveling from the South Asia region will have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in the Maldives, effective 7 July. Work permit holders have to quarantine in designated facilities.

30 June 2021
Updates of COVID-19 cases.
- 138 new cases from 4,923 samples tested - 13 from Greater Malé, 105 from inhabited islands.
- Total 73,798 cases; 69,974 recovered; 3,602 active cases, 28 hospitalized, 210 deaths to date.
Ease of restrictive measures
In Greater Malé Region:
- Curfew scaled back;
currently enforced from 2000 till 0400 hours.
- Police permits not required
during non-curfew hours.
- Individual exercise, individual sports allowed from 0400hrs till 2000 hours.
- Running track open with strict guidelines.
- Shops, restaurants, and
cafes open for dine-in between 0400 – 2000 hours.
- Deliveries permitted during curfew
hours.
- Parks and sports complexes open
with restricted guidelines.
- Communal prayers to resume
with social distancing.
- Patients recovered from
COVID-19, allowed to travel without quarantine for 60 days once recovered.
