Government announces additional easing of restrictive measures, effective 1 July 2021, with the surge in cases brought under acceptable levels.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, at a press conference on 29 June, announced additional stimulus packages to bring the economy to pre-COVID levels. Applications for COVID-relief loans will be open from 1 July 2021, through the Bank of Maldives and the SDFC.
Maldives to re-open borders for tourists from South Asian countries from 15 July. The Government has also announced that locals and work permit holders traveling from the South Asia region will have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in the Maldives, effective 7 July. Work permit holders have to quarantine in designated facilities.
