Despite measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus, there has not been a decline in the number of positive cases reported in the country yet. According to Dr. Mohamed Ali, physician working at the forefront of the government's anti-COVID-19 initiative, cases are spreading across the country like wildfire, and while contact tracing is nearly impossible, health care workers are stretched to their limits.

Part of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Hulhumale Hospital has been converted to COVID-19 care facilities, while diverting non-covid patients to other hospitals to help ease burden on health staff. With the number of cases on the rise, health officials are unable to reach every case of direct contacts and are taking longer to reach out to positive cases. Hence, all citizens are advised to self-isolate and complete the quarantine period as advised by Health Protection Agency (HPA).

Following are the latest updates on the COVID-19 timeline of Maldives.
