The number of new cases recorded has decreased drastically compared to May 2021. Due to the restrictive
measures imposed and strict movement controls implemented, the current positivity rate
stands at 7.2 percent. Contact tracing has been further strengthened, and random sampling resumed. On 15 June, the government announced a scaling back in movement control hours, with individuals allowed to exercise outside between 0400 to 0800 without a police permit.
The movement restrictions proved challenging
for blood donors and thalassemia patients and the Aasandha Company is currently assisting
in transfer of thalassemia patients in monitoring islands. Mechanisms have been put in place to allow blood donations for hospitalized patients.
