Based on the improvements in terms of COVID-19 numbers seen over the last few weeks, the government scaled back the curfew in the Greater Malé Area, with no restrictions in movement. Ease of restrictions effective from 8 July 2021 will
allow citizens to resume the close-to-normal lives prior to the recent surge.
Spokesperson the Presdent's Office Mabrook Azeez has said that the ease of restrictions is mainly due to the increasing percentage of vaccinated individuals in The Maldives, as well as 90 percent of resort employees being fully vaccinated. Despite the ease, however, health guidelines must be adhered to in order to continue containing the spread of the virus.
Traveling guidelines announced prior to Eid Holidays allows domestic
travel to islands other than those that are under monitoring. Due to the improvements in the positivity
rate across the nation, the opportunity has been given to all citizens to enjoy the upcoming
