After enduring weeks of relentless heatwaves, the Maldives is finally on the cusp of transitioning into the rainy season, offering much-needed relief from the scorching temperatures. However, this transition hasn't been entirely smooth, particularly in the southern regions such as Addu and Fuvahmulah, where heavy downpours have caused significant challenges. Reports indicate that parts of Addu have already experienced flooding issues earlier this week.
The Maldives Meteorological Services (MET) office has attributed this shift in weather patterns to the onset of the monsoon season, marking a departure from the typical tropical sunny climate. Anticipating further disruptions, the MET office has issued a nationwide white alert for April 29th, spanning from 07:00 to 12:00 hrs. Citizens are urged to exercise caution as heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong gusts of wind are expected.
With the imminent arrival of heavy downpours and adverse weather conditions across the entire Maldives, residents are advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
