As Thailand continues to be one of the most popular travel destinations for travellers all across the globe, the country has taken measures to streamline the immigration process by updating the country’s Immigration Act, B.E. 2522. In an announcement made by Thailand’s Immigration, travellers coming into Thailand starting May 1, 2025, will be required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival card.
The digital arrival card has started picking up popularity in recent years. In addition to Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, as well as South Korea have also required travellers to fill out their digital arrival card – replacing paper-based forms, offering travellers a more efficient and convenient entry experience into the countries.
The announcement made by Thailand’s Immigration specifies some important notices for travellers in addition to the newly introduced digital arrival card - which the Immigration clarifies needs to be registered within three days before arrival. The announcement also states that any traveller staying in the country longer than 90 days is required to notify the nearest Immigration Officer regarding their stay in writing. Additionally, Thai authorities further notify travellers that travellers are not allowed to work on their travel visa, reminding travellers that a granted work permit is required to work in Thailand.
Travellers seeking to either fill out their Thailand Digital Arrival Card for their upcoming trips or those looking to make changes to their Digital Arrival Card information can now do so through Thailand’s Immigration website.
