President Muizzu declares Dh. Uhdhoo a Picnic island for public use

Following a recent visit to Dh. Meedhoo, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially designated Dh. Uhdhoo as a picnic island for the people of the Southern Part of the Nilandhe Atoll, effective from 15th April 2025. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works.

Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), the Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works revealed that residents of Dhaalu Atoll can now visit Dh. Uhdhoo from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends and public holidays, free of any rental charges.

To facilitate public access, the ministry has provided two contact numbers—9108899 and 7777848—for inquiries and arrangements related to picnic trips to the island.

With the island now officially handed over to the Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, efforts are underway to establish essential services and facilities to enhance the visitor experience on Dh. Uhdhoo.
