The traditional process of obtaining services from Government offices has long been a source of frustration for people, requiring them to physically visit the office, endure lengthy queues, and potentially spend an entire day waiting for their turn. This arduous method not only burdens individuals seeking services but also puts a strain on the hardworking Government employees striving to deliver excellent service.

Anyone who has experienced the sluggish pace of queues and the challenge of securing a convenient appointment slot knows the ordeal involved in tasks like passport renewal at Government offices. In today's digital age, this outdated approach has become increasingly disconcerting.

However, a potential solution may have emerged with the recent launch of the OneGov web application on July 10, 2023. This innovative application aims to digitize all Government services, providing accessibility not only to those who despise long queues but also making service acquisition more convenient for individuals across the Maldives.

The creators of the OneGov application have ensured it is remarkably user-friendly, allowing people of all ages to effortlessly search for the specific service they require. At the time of its launch, the application already offers an extensive range of 105 services, encompassing areas such as work permits and statistical data requests.

Although the web application has only recently been introduced, it has already garnered support from five Government entities, all of whom have registered their services to be accessible digitally. This collaborative effort has resulted in faster, simpler, and more accessible services for the people.

OneGov envisions its app as a platform that seamlessly grants individuals, businesses, and residents of Maldives unified and simplified access to Government services. Now, as of July 10, it is possible to apply for these services through the OneGov application, signifying a significant step towards digitalization in the Maldives.
