Maldives and Kenya Sign MoU on Political Consultations

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the Republic of Kenya have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Political Consultations, further strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Her Excellency Iruthisham Adam, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives signed on behalf of the Government of Maldives and His Excellency Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya signed on behalf of the Government of Kenya. The signing took place following a meeting between the two Ministers.  

The MoU establishes a framework for regular consultations between the two Ministries and will provide an important platform to deepen dialogue, identify new areas of cooperation and further strengthen the Maldives–Kenya partnership.

The Maldives and Kenya established diplomatic relations on 23 October 1995 and have since enjoyed warm and friendly relations. The signing of this MoU reflects the shared commitment of both countries to further deepen their partnership and work together for the benefit of their peoples.
