On 05 November 2025, the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment to develop a City Hotel and Eco-Tourism project in Fuvahmulah City.
The agreement was signed by both parties to promote sustainable tourism and regional development.
The agreement was signed by our CEO & MD, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, and Minister of State, Mohamed Nashath Rasheed, during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Fuvahmulah City.
The development of a City Hotel and Eco-Tourism project will not only promote the local economy through employment opportunities, but will also boost the island's tourism industry, which is already becoming well known among the international travel community for its shark spotting.
On the same day, MACL also signed an agreement with the Ministry of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation to develop a Sports Complex in the city. The agreement, signed by Minister Abdulla Raafiu and the CEO & MD of MACL, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, reflects the company's commitment to promoting sustainable community initiatives and advancing sports development across the Maldives.
