The Maldives Monetary Authority has launched a nationwide competition inviting Maldivians to design the official Financial Literacy Brand Identity and Mascot for the Maldives. The initiative aims to create a strong and recognisable national identity that will support financial literacy and awareness efforts across the country.

The competition seeks a complete branding system that promotes responsible financial behaviour, empowers individuals to make informed financial decisions, and encourages positive financial habits among all age groups, particularly youth and young adults. Participants are expected to develop a cohesive visual identity, including a logo system, colour palette, typography, supporting graphic elements, and a mascot that will serve as a relatable ambassador for financial literacy initiatives.

The key objective of the competition is to establish a unified and culturally relevant identity that Maldivians can easily recognize and connect with. Through this brand and mascot, MMA aims to strengthen nationwide communication on important topics such as saving, budgeting, digital finance, financial wellbeing, and responsible money management. The mascot is envisioned as a friendly and memorable guide that supports learning and inspires behavioural change toward smarter financial choices.

The competition also aims to ensure that financial literacy messaging becomes more engaging and accessible through a visual system that can be consistently applied across schools, community programmes, media campaigns, digital platforms, educational resources, and public events.

Open to all Maldivian individuals, groups, and firms, the competition encourages creativity rooted in Maldivian identity while maintaining a contemporary, inclusive, and easily recognizable design approach. The winning submission will become the official financial literacy brand of the Maldives and receive a cash prize of MVR 100,000.

Interested participants are required to submit their entries electronically by 15:00hrs on 14 June 2026. Full competition guidelines are available on the MMA website.
