Vistara announces direct flights between Malé and New Delhi

The airline has confirmed that these scheduled flights are slated to commence in October this year, with the inaugural flight scheduled for March 3, 2024.

Vistara, the renowned Indian full-service airline under the joint venture of Tata Sons conglomerate and Singapore Airlines (SIA), is all set to launch a new chapter in its operations by introducing direct flights between Malé and New Delhi. This move caters to a growing need for travellers between both countries as India is a popular destination for Maldivian travellers and vice-versa. The airline has confirmed that these scheduled flights are slated to commence in October this year, with the inaugural flight scheduled for March 3, 2024.

Vistara first ventured into the Maldives market on March 3, 2021, when it inaugurated its direct flight operations to Malé from Mumbai. The airline's commitment to enhancing connectivity between the two nations has been met with great success, leading to the expansion of its services to include the capital city of India, New Delhi.

This addition also comes at a time when Maldives is seeing a peak in Indian tourist arrivals. In 2023 alone, the Maldives witnessed an impressive influx of over 100,000 tourists from India, consolidating India's position as the second-largest tourist market for the Maldives, closely trailing Russia. Recognizing this substantial growth and untapped potential, Vistara's decision to offer direct flights between these two capitals is projected to further elevate tourism figures.

Vistara's collaboration between Tata Sons conglomerate and Singapore Airlines (SIA) has been instrumental in bringing this expansion plan to fruition. The joint venture has already established a remarkable presence in the Indian aviation landscape, and the forthcoming launch of the Malé-New Delhi route further bolsters its reputation as a leading airline.
