On 02 March 2026, the Maldives Immigration made an announcement in response to ongoing travel disruptions.
In their post, the Maldives Immigration stated that due to the disruptions to international travel networks caused by conflict in the Middle East since 28 February 2026, which has resulted in the cancellation of several flights to the Maldives, Immigration has decided to extend tourist visas for visitors currently in the country who are unable to depart before the expiry of their visas.
The cancellation of flights due to the ongoing conflict, which has resulted in the closure of airspace across several countries, has significantly affected travellers around the world. With widespread cancellations and prolonged delays, thousands of passengers have found themselves unable to depart from transit hubs or reach their intended destinations as scheduled.
