The Maldives' Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that, effective 29 April 2026, Maldivians holding ordinary passports and intending to travel to Azerbaijan will be exempted from visa requirements for a maximum period of ninety (90) days from the day of their entry. This follows the previous mutual Visa Exemption Agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports in place between the Maldives and Azerbaijan since 18 June 2025.

As the mutual Visa Exemption Agreement for holders of ordinary passports signed between the Maldives and Azerbaijan on 24 September 2025, enters into force, all Maldivians will now be exempt from visa requirements to enter and stay in Azerbaijan for a maximum period of ninety (90) days from the day of their entry. However, those wishing to stay for a longer period or to work or to attend an educational institution or conduct business in Azerbaijan, will need to obtain an appropriate visa prior to travel.

This marks a significant milestone in the Government’s overall efforts towards achieving visa-free travel for all nationals.
