On 29 January 2026, the Maldives Airports Company Ltd. (MACL) announced that the N. Vihafaru Airport Development Land Reclamation Project was officiated by the Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed, together with the company's CEO & Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed. The ceremony took place in the presence of His Excellency, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
