Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, is pleased to announce the appointment of MEGACAP Aviation Services Ltd as its General Sales Agent (GSA) for China, marking a significant step forward in the airline’s commitment to deepening connectivity between China and the Maldives.
China continues to serve as an important strategic route for Maldives. With 329,110 Chinese visitors arriving in the Maldives, a 25% increase over the previous year, and China holding the top position as the single largest source market with a 14.6% share of total arrivals, the strategic importance of this market cannot be overstated. In 2026, this momentum continues, with 86,464 Chinese visitors already recorded as of mid March, accounting for 15.6% of total arrivals.
Maldivian operates weekly flights from Malé to China using its wide-body A330-200 aircraft, offering travellers seamless access to the Maldives. The routes, operated since January 2025, build on the airline’s longstanding history of serving the Chinese market, and reflect Maldivian’s confidence in the continued growth of Chinese outbound travel to the islands.
