On Sunday, 11 January 2025, the Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) unveiled the new sea-plane check in area.
With the official opening, MACL shared pictures on their official social media platforms, showcasing the spacious, fully air-conditioned space, which is set to provide a comfortable and premium journey for all travellers checking in through the new seaplane check-in counter area.
This move also coincides with MACL recently announcing that all airlines have now moved operations to its new terminal, which was officially inaugrated in 26 July 2025. Along with this move, the company also introduced E-gate services for Maldivian passangers, further enhancing the airport services at Velana International Airport (VIA).
