Escalating security tensions across parts of the Middle East have led several governments to impose temporary airspace restrictions and flight suspensions as a precautionary safety measure.
As a result, multiple regional and international airlines have been forced to suspend services, citing passenger and crew safety as their top priority. These disruptions have impacted transit hubs, leading to temporary cancellations on key routes.
With this disruption, the Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) published a statement on 28 February 2026, advising all passangers travelling to the region to closely monitor updates from their respective airlines and tour operators before proceeding to the airport.
Giving additional information and tips to passengers for an easier journey, MACL also encouraged all passengers to check the status of their flight directly through their airline's official website or mobile
application before travelling to the airport, contact tour operators for the latest guidance and any rebooking or schedule change
information, and allow additional time for any necessary travel arrangements.
Additionally, MACL also noted that for real-time flight information, passengers can visit: http://fis.com.mv
MACL noted that the company remains fully committed to ensuring uninterrupted and efficient services for all passengers at Velana International Airport during this period.
