On 28 November 2025, the Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) announced the inauguration of the Tech and IT SME Partnership Programme, SYNEX (Synergy Exchange).
The programme was officially inaugurated by the Executive Director of MACL, Ibrahim Mahdy.
The key initiative of the SYNEX platform is promoting small and medium software enterprises in the Maldives by enabling the enterprises to collaborate directly with MACL on tailored digital solutions for airport operations. According to the company's official X account, the program was started with seven local software development companies as MACL's first cohort of innovation partners. The first stage of the programme will see these local software development companies working alongside internal teams on a variety of projects, which are set to range from passenger services and baggage handling to back-end operational systems and data-driven decision making.
This strategic initiative to bring in digital solutions for airport operations aligns with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's Maldives 2.0 vision as well.
