On 20 December 2025, the Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) announced that ITA Airways had commenced operations at Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport, becoming the 35th airline to operate from the new terminal.
The airline’s inaugural flight was marked by a ceremonial water salute, while arriving passengers received a warm Maldivian welcome with traditional boduberu performances.
