Island Aviation Services Limited and the Maldives Meteorological Service have entered into a new agreement aimed at strengthening aviation weather services at Maafaru International Airport, a move designed to enhance both safety and operational efficiency for airport operations.
By strengthening coordination between the two institutions, the initiative is expected to support better decision-making for flight operations, particularly in managing changing weather conditions that can impact arrivals and departures.
Maafaru International Airport, one of the Maldives’ key regional gateways, handles growing air traffic linked to tourism and domestic connectivity. Enhanced meteorological support is therefore seen as an important step in ensuring smoother operations and maintaining high safety standards.
The agreement marks another step toward strengthening infrastructure and operational resilience at regional airports, aligning with ongoing efforts to improve aviation safety and service quality across the Maldives.
