Hilton is a name that people recognise, regardless of generation. Conrad Hilton established the Hilton hotel chain in 1925, when he opened a hotel in Dallas, Texas. Following this, the company grew to become a hotel chain by the 1940s. Since its inception, Hilton hotels have continued to expand, and by 1997, 'Conrad Maldives' had opened, marking the Hilton brand's entry into the Maldivian resort industry.
As of May 2022, Hilton Worldwide Holdings inc. managed three resorts in the Maldives; Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Saii lagoon Curio Collection and the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. As of this month, Hilton brand has made an addition to this list with the opening of their new resort ‘Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa’ which has been developed at Koddhiparu finolhu in Kaafu Atoll.
Branded as a ‘family-friendly Maldivian getaway’, the resort consists of 109 rooms including beach villas developed by the largest Maldivian construction company Amin constructions. With a starting price of $793 per night, the resort provides a variety of villas and suites to choose from the beach and overwater villas each having a private pool.
The resort is located just a 20-minute boat ride from the Velan International Airport, making it one of the resorts with easy access to tourists as the travel time is considerably short.
While new, this resort does not have a lack of choices when it comes to dining as there are six different restaurants located on spot. With restaurants ranging from high-end to a more laid-back concept, one of the most noteworthy places in this resort has to be the aura pool bar & cocktail lab. This is the first time a cocktail lab dedicated to the art of mixology has been opened in the Maldives, undoubtedly taking a big step towards creativity in the tourism industry.
Another noteworthy attraction on this resort has to be the sip tea lounge dedicated to tea cultures from around the world. With these two new additions to the new Hilton resort in the Maldives, a new group of tourists will undoubtedly visit this island to see what the Maldivian resort industry has to offer.
The spa in the resort is also worth a mention as they provide a variety of services. In addition to facials and body scrubs, the Amingiri spa offers hammam steaming and specializes in maternity, bridal, and couples' massages. Hammam, also known as a Turkish bath, is a popular steam bath that is now available just twenty minutes from the airport at the Hilton Maldives Amingiri. Aside from the hammam room, the spa also has a steam room and a sauna making it the perfect place to unwind and relax.
The opening of this new resort also coincides with the recovery journey of Maldives tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic, with daily arrivals of tourists reaching over 4,000 as of yesterday. While the tourism industry's goal for 2022 was to bring in 1.6 million tourists this year, despite the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the country has already met half of its tourist arrival target, with 805,986 tourists as at 29 June 2022.
