A landmark moment has been reached in Maldives–Australia connectivity with the launch of Australia’s only direct flight to the Maldives, operated by Maldivian Airlines.

Marking its entry as the 43rd international carrier to serve the Maldives, Maldivian Airlines has introduced a non-stop service connecting Melbourne and Malé for the first time. The new route eliminates the need for long layovers, offering travellers a seamless journey between the two destinations.

The service is being operated as part of exclusive flight and accommodation packages in partnership with Luxury Escapes, allowing passengers to book combined holiday experiences directly to the Maldives.

The inaugural weekly service is operated using the airline’s A330 aircraft, which has already departed for Melbourne, officially marking the beginning of this historic route. The development strengthens the Maldives’ long-haul connectivity and opens new opportunities for tourism growth from the Australian market.

The launch is being seen as a milestone for Maldivian aviation and tourism, reinforcing the country’s position as a premier long-haul island destination.
