Just two months ago, on April 1st 2023 the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) during an event to celebrate its 22-year anniversary officially announced its rebranding to Urbanco.
With this new rebranding, Urbanco announced that it would be taking its projects to new heights as the company which previously focused on the development of Hulhumale’ will now focus on the overall development projects in the Maldives, including smaller islands. Following its rebranding Urbanco stated that they will be closely working with the Atoll councils of islands in the Maldives to bring about development to the Maldives’ islands.
And now it appears that Urbanco is taking yet another step towards taking the company and its initiative to new heights. On May 29, 2023, Urbanco signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with International Aid Campaign (IAC) in an effort to provide humanitarian aid to the countries and regions that are affected due to conflict or distress.
International Aid Campaign is a non-profit organization based in the Maldives that focuses on raising awareness about the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah and devising innovative solutions to support and uplift these communities.
This MoU which was initiated by the International Aid Campaign will allow the non-profit organisation to closely work together with Urbanco in order to closely work together to identify communities and individuals in need in order to develop specific plans in order to meet the needs of the communities.
