The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has forecast a strengthening of the southwest monsoon over the Maldives on August 11 and 12, with widespread rainfall, occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms expected across the country.
According to MET, the strengthening monsoon is expected to increase convective activity across the Maldives, resulting in periods of rain in different parts of the country. Some areas may experience heavier showers and thunderstorms during the forecast period.
