SME Digital, in collaboration with the Bank of Maldives (BML) and Addu City Council, will conduct a special engagement program in Addu City from 19 to 22 September 2026, focusing on financing opportunities available for the development of the local tourism sector.
The engagement sessions will be held at Addu City Council Hall on 19 and 20 September, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and are open to individuals interested in developing or expanding local tourism businesses.
The sessions will provide information on financing solutions available for the development of guesthouses and guestrooms, including guidance on eligibility, the application process and documentation requirements. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet the teams for one-to-one consultations, receive hands-on application support and submit financing applications during the engagement.
The initiative aims to make financing opportunities more accessible to entrepreneurs and individuals interested in contributing to the growth of local tourism in Addu City, while providing practical support to help turn potential tourism projects into viable businesses.
SME Digital continues to conduct community-level engagements across the Maldives to improve access to financing information, strengthen financial literacy and connect entrepreneurs with opportunities to start, grow and expand their businesses. Engagements have been conducted across several atolls and cities, including Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu, Alifu Alifu and Laamu Atolls, as well as Fuvahmulah City and Addu City.
Following the Addu City engagement, SME Digital will participate in this year’s Island Carnival in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi from 29 September to 5 October, where the team will continue to engage with small and medium enterprises and raise awareness of available financing opportunities.
Through these outreach initiatives, SME Digital aims to bring its services closer to communities across the Maldives, improve financial awareness and support the continued development of small and medium enterprises throughout the country.
