During President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's visit to Lhaviyani and Kaafuu Atoll, the President announced key developmental projects, including 300 housing units on the island of Naifaru, as well as a reclamation project.
On 27 October 2025, during a meeting with the residents of Naifaru, the 300-unit housing project was officially awarded to the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
Additional contracts signed included an agreement between Private Company 3 Way Enterprises and the Fisheries Ministry to build a slipway on the island, the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was awarded with further developments of the islands current harbor in addition to creating a completely new one, while the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) was awarded with establishing a sports complex with a capacity of 1,200 people.
