As a country that has islands divided by miles of ocean, the development of the transportation sector has always been important. Reaching one of the biggest milestones when it came to closing barriers between urgent healthcare and transportation, the Maldives introduced a national air ambulance service, which would ensure the safe transportation of patients from one island to the other in a time-effective manner.

The air ambulance services, which were introduced in early 2024 have already gone a long way in helping patients - whether they’re located in a resort or an island that does not have the medical care needed. The importance of the air ambulance service was highlighted as the service, not even one year after launching, has gone to help transport 517 patients taken to 436 cases. In order to upgrade and make the service even better, Ooredoo Maldives has graciously donated MVR 16 million worth of special medical equipment on the 15th of October, 2024.

We attach importance to building a healthier and stronger nation by all of us working together, uniting with our communities, facilitating the growth of healthcare, and investing in the sector where such a solution is most needed.
CEO of Ooredoo Maldives Khalid Al-Hamadi.

Ooredoo Maldives has donated to the services before, as the company also facilitated the necessary equipment that was needed for the initial launch of the services. The additional donations by Ooredoo this month included medical equipment to enhance its capabilities, a batch designed to improve patient care on the go and expand its ability to respond robustly to medical emergencies around the country.
