President Dr Muizzu establishes Embassy of Maldives in Qatar

The directive stated that the embassy was established in order to strengthen bilateral relations and promote cooperation between the Maldives and Qatar in areas such as education, politics, the economy, and defense.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced the establishment of an Embassy of Maldives in the State of Qatar as of 29 June 2025. This announcement was made by the President via a directive that was issued by the President's Office. 

According to the Office, the new embassy will function under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was established under the authority granted to the President by Article 116 of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.

The directive also stated that the embassy was established in order to strengthen bilateral relations and promote cooperation between the Maldives and Qatar in areas such as education, politics, the economy, and defense.

The directive also outlined the responsibilities of the embassy and specified the official name of the establishment.

According to the President's Office, all correspondence directed to the Embassy of Maldives in Qatar will reference the number 502.
