MWSC strengthens leadership skills through MNDF-led workshop

Over 29 members of the Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) senior leadership team has successfuly completed a leadership workshop.

The workshop, organised by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), was held over two and a half days at K. Girifushi, bringing together the attendees to develop a cohesive and unified leadership culture within the organisation.

The programme saw participants partake in various exercises varying from leadership and command exercises to crisis management and strategic thinking exercizes which are important components for the leadership of a company. Additionally, the participants also completed a first aid and firefighting training, adding to the workplace safety and the knowledge base within the MWSC team.

Moreover, the workshop also challenged the participants by acting out various scenarios, such as a shipboard emergency drill sumulation, where the participants had to put their newly learnt knowledge to use. Beyond this, senior leaders from different divisions also got the opportunity to work closely together, strengthening deamwork and leadership skills within the attendees.

A key highlight of the workshop was a shipboard emergency drill simulating an abandon-ship scenario. Participants were required to enter the sea and carry out procedures reflecting real-life emergency and rescue situations, offering hands-on experience in responding to emergencies at sea.

Beyond the practical and physical exercises, the workshop provided an important platform for senior leaders from different divisions and departments to work closely together, strengthening communication, teamwork and inter-divisional relationships.

Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with members of senior management describing the workshop as a transformative experience that strengthened bonds across the organization and reinforced a shared sense of purpose and direction.
