The Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has launched a series of sports development projects across several islands, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation. The initiatives are aimed at enhancing community facilities and promoting health, fitness, and well-being across local communities.
On 14 October 2025, the development of a Fitness and Recreation Center in Sh. Feydhoo was initiated by MACL’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, together with the Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Abdulla Raafiu, and the Council President, Ahmed Raisam.
On 15 October 2025, similar projects were initiated in Sh. Narudhoo, with the participation of Parliament Member for Milandhoo, Hassan Mufeed, and Council President, Mohamed Mustharashid, as well as in Sh. Milandhoo, where an MoU was signed for the development of a new sports complex. The agreement was signed by CEO and MD Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and Minister Abdulla Raafiu, in alignment with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to enhance sports and community well-being.
Continuing its collaboration, MACL signed another MoU on 16 October 2025 with the Ministry of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation for the development of a Sports Complex in Sh. Funadhoo, reinforcing the company’s commitment to community development and growth through sports.
On 20 October 2025, the development of a Fitness and Recreation Center in L. Hithadhoo was initiated by CEO and MD Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Minister Abdulla Raafiu, and Council President, Ibrahim Shammoon, as part of MACL’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community well-being.
The following day, on 21 October 2025, MACL signed an agreement with the Ministry for the development of a new Sports Complex in L. Fonadhoo, emphasizing the company’s focus on sustainable and forward-looking community projects.
Most recently, on 22 October 2025, MACL announced the development of a Sports Complex in L. Gan, following the signing of a project agreement between CEO and MD Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and Minister of State for Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Abdul Razak Ibrahim.
