The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has published the latest trade statistics highlighting the Maldives’ import and export performance for July 2025. According to data released by the Maldives Customs Service, goods worth MVR 4.5 billion were imported during the month.
Based on these figures, the imports in July included fuel worth MVR923 million, food items worth MVR859 million, and machinery and electrical equipment worth MVR735 million.
According to the statistics, the highest volume of imports in July came from China. Goods worth MVR 712 million were imported from China, followed by MVR704 million from India, MVR622 million from the United Arab Emirates, MVR513 million from Oman, and MVR432 million from Singapore.
In the same month, exports from the Maldives amounted to MVR210 million.
Giving additional details, the Ministry also confirmed that a total of 1,359 containers has been cleared from the Male' Commercial Habor within the past week by the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
According to the statistics released by MPL, the cleared containers include 553 of 20-foot containers and 403 of 40-foot containers.
In terms of cleared goods from Malé Harbour, the largest quantity was eggs. This included 14,540 packages of eggs, 11,617 packages of onions, 5,415 packages of watermelons, 5,647 packages of potato, 3,672 packages of tomatoes and 1,819 packages of pineapples.
Additionally, 2,157 packages of cabbage, 2,087 packages of bananas, 806 packages of pumpkins, and 539 packages of sweet melons were cleared by MPL.
MPL also confirmed that during this period, three container vessels and three general cargo vessels were handled.
