The reclamation works are being carried out with the support of the LEIV EIRIKSSON, a Boskalis dredger that arrived at Giraavaru on 1 August 2026 to undertake reclamation activities.

Reclamation works at Giraavaru’s Site B have commenced under a new contract, with a further 7 hectares of land set to be reclaimed as part of the ongoing project.
The works began on 24 July 2026, with the contract providing for the filling of 670,435.74 cubic metres at Site B.
Site B has a total area of 153.5 hectares and a total estimated fill volume of 5,603,154.54 cubic metres. Prior to the current contract, 2,053,843.74 cubic metres of material had been filled at the site.
With the additional volume under the current contract, the total filled volume will reach 2,724,279.48 cubic metres.
In terms of reclaimed land, 61 hectares of Site B had already been reclaimed before the commencement of the current works. The new contract will add another 7 hectares, bringing the total reclaimed area to 68 hectares.
