The Government of Japan grants aid for Omadhoo School

Under this MVR1.2 million project the Japanese Government and Omadhoo School aim to construct classrooms and toilets that cater for Special Education Need (SEN) students.

One of the biggest foundations of a child developing into a successful adult is the school they go to as it is where they learn new information in order to make it in whichever field they choose. For this exact reason, equipping schools to become a place where children have access to good quality education as well as a well-built structure that will encourage the youth to be keener on learning is extremely important.

With the world developing around us, it has become more and more important for schools to develop to adjust to the creative young minds who are the future of our country and many schools have been adjusting the old structures of schools in order to aid their students better and create an inclusive environment for all children who want to learn.

When it comes to the Maldives, however, even with the development of a more inclusive school ground and school environment in general when it comes to Male’ city, several islands are still lagging far behind in this field. With a lack of ramps, accessible toilets and the overall general lack of knowledge around catering to a diverse group of students, schools in islands still have ways to go when it comes to development,

Grant aid by the Government of Japan

With islands still trying to catch up with these developments, it does appear that some island schools might finally get some much-needed upgrades. On October 23, 2022, the Government of Japan and A.Dh Omadhoo School launched ‘The project for upgrade of Omadhoo School’.

Under this MVR1.2 million project the Japanese Government and Omadhoo School aim to construct classrooms and toilets that cater for Special Education Need (SEN) students.

With this grant aid, in addition to building a more accessible school infrastructure for children, it would also create a safe environment for SEN kids to feel more accepted in their schools.

As schools are the foundation of learning from a young age, the feeling of acceptance and security would provide children with a better environment to study and share knowledge.
