23 May 2022, The Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Ali Hashim warned at the Parliamentary Committee against the proposed lease rent reductions of tourist resorts. Governor highlighted the importance of doing a proper analysis of the revenue impact of such a reduction in revenue, and warned against it, considering the dire situation in Sri Lanka. 

23 May 2022, The newly elected Chairperson of Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), Minister of Fayyaz Ismail assumes the post today. He won election against MP Imthiyaz Fahumy with 27,900 votes, in one of the most competitive party elections in recent history. 

22 May 2022, The State Trading Organization (STO) has started providing ready-mix concrete to the Thilamale' Bridge project. STO has recently signed a contract with the main India contractor of the project to provide 7,500 cubic meter ready-mix concrete over a period of one year. 

04 May 2022, AirAsia resumes flights to Maldives, after stopping its operations following the COVID-19 pandemic. Flights will be operating between Maldives and Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur and Maldives. 

03 May 2022, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Eva Abdulla expressed concern over use of Government funds through the President's Office, ministries, and state companies to further government's agenda through media. The remarks come amid Maldives slipping 15 spots on the World Press Freedom Index in 2022. 

01 May, President Solih has appointed Ahmed Latheef as Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Latheef has been Ambassador in Germany since 20 January 2019.   

01 May, President Solih announced a new salary structure for teachers and other educational sector staff, bringing the lowest pay for teachers to reach at least MVR 13,000 per month. President made the announcement in a televised address to the nation. 

01 May, The Vice President Faisal Naseem departed to New York City on an official visit to participate in the high-level thematic debate convened by the President of the United Nations General Assembly on the theme "Putting sustainable and resilient tourism at the heart of an inclusive recovery." According to the President's Office, the debate is convened in collaboration with the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
