Hotelier Maldives Awards 2025 concludes, celebrating the heart and soul of Maldives tourism

This year, the award show saw even larger support with more than 450 nominations and over 600,000 public votes as the award show expanded to include four new categories as well.

On 14 June 2025, Hotelier Maldives hosted the Hotelier Maldives Awards at  Barceló Nasandhura Malé. The award show, which was introduced in 2024, recognises and celebrates the exceptional individuals who work effortlessly to drive the Maldives' tourism industry to the world-class sector that it is known for today.

According to Corporate Maldives, the inaugural edition of the Hotelier Maldives Award was a major success, with over 300 nominations and more than 100,000 public votes cast to choose and celebrate the best of the best in the industry.

This year, the award show saw even larger support with more than 450 nominations and over 600,000 public votes as the award show expanded to include four new categories as well. For the second consecutive year, Best Buy Maldives (BBM) presented the award, while the Minister of Finance and Planning, Moosa Zameer attended the award show as Chief Guest. According to Hotelier Maldives, the minister highlighted the crucial role of hospitality professionals in maintaining the Maldives’ position as a globally recognised destination.

Hotelier Maldives noted that the winners of the 2025 Hotelier Maldives Award were determined through a comprehensive evaluation, with 60 percent of the score awarded by a panel of expert judges, and the remaining 40 percent from public voting. The award show saw awards being presented across 23 individuals and 4 different team categories.

Individual award winners

  1. Young Hotelier of the Year: Fathuhulla Naseer – Barceló Whale Lagoon and Barceló Nasandhura Maldives
  2. Wellness Personality of the Year: I Gusti Ayu Ariani – Cora Cora Resort Maldives
  3. Concierge/Guest Service Personality of the Year: Mariyam Shaghaf – The Ritz Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands
  4. Security Officer of the Year: Ahmed Jamsheed – Sun Siyam Iru Veli
  5. Mariner of the Year: Aheej Abdul Gadir – Jumeirah Olhahali Island Maldives
  6. Landscaper of the Year: Dakshina Moorthy Thankarajan – The Ritz Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands
  7. Housekeeper of the Year: Mohamed Aslam – Cheval Blanc Randheli
  8. IT Personality of the Year: Hussain Saamiu – Milaidhoo Maldives
  9. Engineer of the Year: Mohamed Shaheem – Dhigali Maldives
  10. Procurement Personality of the Year: Hawwa Nazima – Pulse Hotels & Resorts
  11. Aviator of the Year: Naif Abdul Rahman – Manta Air
  12. F&B Personality of the Year: Mohamed Zaeem – Conrad Maldives Rangali
  13. Chef of the Year and BBM Chairman’s Special Award for Chef of the Year: Ahmed Jameel – One&Only Reethi Rah
  14. HR & Training Personality of the Year: Ismail Isam – Kurumba Maldives
  15. Watersports Personality of the Year: Ali Siraathu – Royal Island Resort & Spa
  16. Diving Personality of the Year: Azim Naseer – Dusit Thani Maldives
  17. Airport Representative of the Year: Hussain Waheed – One&Only Reethi Rah
  18. Finance Personality of the Year: Aruna Priya Jayasinghe Nissangkage – Intercontinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort and Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives
  19. Sales Personality of the Year: Alia Korshykova – The Ritz Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands
  20. PR and Communications Personality of the Year: Seema Misra – Atmosphere Core
  21. Marketer of the Year: Khaled Jarrah – Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi
  22. Resort Manager of the Year: Ausy Waseem – Siyam World
  23. GM of the Year: Mohamed Ashraf – Jumeirah Olhahali Island Maldives

Team, Programme, and Special Awards

According to Hotelier Maldives, this category of awards was given to recognise that excellence is a collective effort, the awards also celebrated outstanding teams and initiatives. The winners in these categories were:

  1. Hotel Team of the Year: Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa
  2. Training and Development Programme of the Year: The Marriott Kurimagu Leadership Programme
  3. Sustainability Champion of the Year: OZEN Life Maadhoo
  4. CSR Programme of the Year: Six Senses Laamu

This year, Hotelier Maldives also included a 'Special Awards' segment, honouring four industry veterans who have spent decades of their lives in their service to the Maldives' tourism industry. The four veterans include:

  1. Mohamed Hashim, Housekeeping Manager at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives
  2. Mohamed Fuad, Engineering Manager at Bandos Maldives
  3. Ali Rasheed Adam, Director of Sales & Marketing at Villa Resorts
  4. Hussain Manikfaan, who retired in 2025 as Restaurant Manager at Coco Bodu Hithi

With the end of this year's Hotelier Maldives Awards, the award show has yet again highlighted the pinnacle of service, innovation, and leadership which has created the unique tourism and service industry of the Maldives, that continues to thrive and bring thousands of travellers from across the globe each year.
