Hulhumale' Phase 2

With the holy month of Ramadan coming up, one of the worries for those living in Hulhumale Phase II has been the difficulty in getting access to fresh produce.

While Phase II is going through major developments with basic facilities such as schools, clinics, and convenience stores being opened up, this area of the City still has ways to go before people are no longer needed to drive all the way to Phase I or Male’ to get access to some basic needs. And one of these things is the access to fresh produce.

While convenience stores may provide a few things such as fresh and imported fruits, with Ramadan coming up those living in the area would need access to fresh vegetables and fruits for their daily iftar preparations. In order to meet this need and facilitate easy access to fresh vegetables, the Male’ City Council has decided to set up a temporary market area in Hulhumale' Phase II.

Though the location of the market has not been confirmed, this is definitely good news for the residents of Phase II who would not have to make the long drive to Phase I for groceries during Ramadan if the marketplace opening up goes according to plan.
