The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has unveiled the panel of leading experts set to headline a major discussion at the upcoming Research Conference 2025, which will examine the theme “Charting New Frontiers: Rethinking Economic Growth Beyond Tourism.”
This high-level session aims to spark dialogue on forward-looking strategies for economic diversification—an increasingly critical priority as the Maldives works toward strengthening long-term economic resilience.
The panel brings together an accomplished group of professionals from diverse sectors. Among them is Dr Azeema Adam, former MMA Governor and currently Senior Inter-Regional Advisor on Strategic Foresight and Systems Thinking at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA). She will be joined by Iyaz Waheed, Assistant Director of Statutory Compliance at Universal Enterprises; Fathimath Saeed, Economist and Team Leader at the Asian Development Bank (ADB); and Hussain Niyaz, Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives. The discussion will be moderated by Idham Hussain, Advisor at the MMA.
Scheduled for 16–17 November 2025, the conference will be held at Villa Nautica – Paradise Island, the Official Conference Host.
