MMA announces the opportunity to participate in the Global Money Week Essay Competition

The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced the opportunity to take part in the Global Money Week Essay Competition.

According to MMA, this essay competition is designed to encourage young people to reflect on theirpersonal relationship with money and share meaningful experiences that have shaped their financial perspectives. Through writing, participants will develop a more comprehensive understanding of how money influences their lives and the lives of people around them.

Participants can choose to write their essay based on one of the three themes, with the essay exploring the participants personal experience, demonstrate thoughtful reflection, and convey authentic insights about their relationship with money.

Themes for the essay

  • A moment or scenario that changed how you think about money
  • How has money impacted an important decision or experience in your life
  • A financial lesson you have learned and what it taught you

The essay competition has been opened up for all secondary school students, ranging from grade 08 to grade 10. The winners of the competition are awarded with the first place getting a reward for MVR3,000 and a certificate, second place getting MVR2,000 and a certificate, and thirdplace winner getting MVR1,000 and a certificate. 

All essay submissions with participants ID card copy must be submitted via email to [email protected] by 15:00 hrs. on 22nd March 2026.
