As the Maldives continues to expand its tourism industry, the efforts towards education and developing skills for the future developments of the industry become increasingly important with each passing year. With this, Marriott International has taken up the task of shaping the future of the tourism industry with its internship program. Following the first successful Marriott International Maldives Apprenticeship Program (MIMAP) being concluded in April of 2024, Marriott International has now launched the second batch of MIMAP).

With 60 enthusiastic participants, eager to embark on a journey of professional growth and industry expertise, the program is designed to provide a comprehensive blend of on-the-job training and classroom instruction from seasoned industry professionals. Participants will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at Marriott International's prestigious resorts in the Maldives, including:

  •  The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands
  • The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort
  • JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa
  •  W Maldives
  • Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa

Reflecting on the success of the inaugural batch, the program initially welcomed 43 participants, of whom 37 have since transitioned to full-time employment within Marriott International’s resorts across the Maldives. This success showcases the program's commitment to nurturing local talent and providing them with sustainable career opportunities in the hospitality sector. Such internship programs provide easy connectivity to students within the hospitality industry to acclaimed Maldives resorts. In addition to providing on-field experience, the students partaking in the Marriott International internship program also have a higher chance of getting full-time employment from Marriott Resorts, making it better than general internship programs.
