Further ease in restrictive measures imposed with drastic improvements in the number of positive cases seen over the last few weeks. There are still 71 islands under monitoring. Government also announced that travel is allowed to islands effective from 23 June 2021. However, this does not include travel to islands under monitoring.
Gyms and fitness centers required to submit service plans to resume operations. Guidelines for enforcement and inspection strengthened, with a MVR500 fine for cafes and restaurants providing dine-in and takeaway services. Although restrictions have been eased further, households are to take household permits to go out for essential needs.
As part of the recovery plan to assist businesses affected by COVID-19, a stimulus package has been announced by the government. Businesses can take up to MVR10 million at 6% interest rate and 12-month grace period without any mortgage requirements. President meets with Restaurantmv and Guesthouse Association of Maldives to discuss issues faced by restaurants and guesthouses.
