The government has scaled back restrictive measures, including allowing locals to travel to inhabited islands not under monitoring. Travel to islands under monitoring may only be made for essential purposes. The Health Emergency Operation Center advised that results of PCR tests may be delayed due to the high number of samples being tested, although priority is being given to symptomatic and direct contact cases.

HEOC Spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq noted the successful COVID-19 vaccination campaign, whereby 50 percent of the population eligible have been vaccinated with the second dose. The government has also announced that the vaccination program will be suspended in the Greater Malé Region during the upcoming Eid holidays.

The HEOC advises those traveling both locally and abroad during the holidays to take precautionary measures and wear masks.
