CNN anchor Don Lemon fired

In his remarks, Lemon publicly said that former UN ambassador Ms Nikki Haley was ‘not in her prime’ and that women are considered to be in their prime in their 20s, 30s and maybe their 40s.

In an eye-turning incident, CNN has dismissed one of their most well-known and long-standing anchors, Don Lemon following a streak of reported problematic remarks on and off the air.

Lemon, who initially joined CNN all the way back in 2026 prior to now famous “CNN this morning”, hosted a show under his own name “Don Lemon Tonight” which aired for eight years in a row before the now-famous anchor started hosting CNN this morning. Lemon’s initial stardom as an anchor took off when he publicly spoke out against the former US president Donald Trump’s racism on air, now taking a turn as his fame is about to take a downturn due to his very own deep-rooted sexism.

What is now appearing to be a back-and-forth between Lemon and the CNN network regarding the firing process started when Lemon made some very questionable comments on air, for the thousands across America to hear.

In his remarks, Lemon publicly said that former UN ambassador Ms Nikki Haley was ‘not in her prime’ and that women are considered to be in their prime in their 20s, 30s and maybe their 40s. To add to the already blatantly sexist comments, Lemon further stated that these are ‘facts that can be Googled’ in response to his co-star Poppy Harlow and Kaitlin Collins’s objections to his comments.

These sexist comments were even more widespread following the Oscars, where Malaysian-American actress Michelle Yeoh in her Oscar acceptance speech encouraged women not to give up on their dreams by saying ‘Ladies, don’t let anybody tell you you’re ever past your prime’. While Lemon’s initial comments may have caught the attention of Americans who tune in to watch the CNN show, following Yeoh’s comments, these sexist remarks have caught the attention of many worldwide.

While the world, though not easily,  may have forgiven and forgotten famous TV personnel for making one sexist comment, it appears that Lemon holds quite the record for making such comments, even in the past.

This April, Variety published a piece which covered several sexist and problematic remarks that were made by Lemon in the past. This piece accused Lemon of calling one of his producers fat to her face while also having mimicked one of his colleagues and allegedly sent threatening texts to others. By now, Lemon’s comments have made it extremely clear to everyone just the extent of his misogyny and sexism as it was only last year that Lemon faced extreme scrutiny for saying that the men’s soccer team should be paid more than the women’s as they are more interesting to watch.

While a representative for Lemon has denied the reports on Vanity, Lemon’s multiple public comments have led many to believe that it is not past him to make such comments. Up on his dismissal, Ms Haley took to Twitter, making a somewhat celebratory tweet calling it a great day for women everywhere, followed with the tag #StillInMyPrime.
